Jaska Lukkarinen Trio on Joint Production Tour in October-November
Jaska Lukkarinen Trio will be performing their new Textures program during the Jazz Federation joint production tour in October and November. The tour begins in Loviisa on October 19th, followed by concerts in Savonlinna, Nurmes, Porvoo, Vantaa, and Kotka. The tour will culminate with a performance at the Tampere Jazz Happening festival on November 2nd.
The new Textures concert by Jaska Lukkarinen Trio features music composed by drummer and composer Mikko Hassinen. The compositions explore the use of different timbres of the drum set in the saxophone-bass-drums ensemble. The musical palette is partly related to drummer Jaska Lukkarinen’s doctoral research, which focuses on the creation, maintenance, and release of musical energy. The absence of a piano, guitar, or other harmony instrument alters the internal interaction of the group, challenging the drummer to take greater responsibility for the ensemble’s overall sound. In addition to Lukkarinen, the trio includes veteran musicians, saxophonist Jussi Kannaste and bassist Antti Lötjönen.
