Jonathan Bäckström Quartet on a joint production tour with the Finnish Jazz Federation

Originating from Kruunupyy, bassist-composer Jonathan Bäckström’s quartet embarks on a joint production tour with the Finnish Jazz Federation, heading to Finland, as well as Sweden and Estonia.

The Finnish-Swedish Jonathan Bäckström Quartet’s expression ranges from minimalist soundscapes to explosive and multi-layered free improvisation. Each musician brings their unique voice to the mix, resulting in a powerful musical statement collectively.

Joining Jonathan Bäckström on the tour are alto saxophonist Marcus Wärnheim, tenor saxophonist Adele Sauros, and drummer Benjamin Nylund. The band will release their debut album JBQ in 2024, featuring Bäckström’s compositions from 2019 to 2022 and one piece from Marcus Wärnheim.
