The National Jazz Convention in Tampere
The Finnish Jazz Federation organizes the National Jazz Days for its members every autumn in connection with the Tampere Jazz Happening. The event spans two days and features various discussions and training sessions related to the jazz field. The Federation’s annual general meeting is held as part of the Jazz Days.
During the event, the prestigious Yrjö Award and Yle Jazz Radio’s Varjo-Yrjö recognition are presented. In 2025, the Andania Award will also be granted, recognizing long-term and distinguished contributions to Finnish jazz, as well as the Taimi Award, first presented in 2023, which is aimed at young musicians.
This year, the Federation’s statutory autumn meeting will take place in the Music Hall at the Laikku Cultural Centre on Saturday, November 1st. Following the meeting, an open discussion will be held on the Federation’s upcoming strategy, strengthening regional cooperation, and the Jazz Finland 100 anniversary year.
The National Jazz Days have been organized in connection with the Tampere Jazz Happening since 2014.
