The National Jazz Convention in Tampere
The Finnish Jazz Federation organizes the National Jazz Days for its members every autumn in connection with the Tampere Jazz Happening. The event spans two days and features various discussions and training sessions related to the jazz field. The Federation’s annual general meeting is held as part of the Jazz Days.
During the event, the prestigious Yrjö Award and Yle Jazz Radio’s Varjo-Yrjö recognition are presented. In 2026, the Andania Award will also be granted, recognizing long-term and distinguished contributions to Finnish jazz, as well as the Taimi Award, first presented in 2023, which is aimed at young musicians.
This year, the members’ statutory Autumn general meeting will be held on Saturday 31 October at the Music Hall meeting space at Kulttuuritalo Laikku. The meeting will be followed by a discussion event, opening with a presentation by Susanna Malo, Communications Manager at LiveFIN, titled What Do Young People Want from Live Music? Participation, Audience Engagement and the Future of Live Culture. The discussion will then explore, among other topics, ways of strengthening regional cooperation.
The National Jazz Convention has been organised in connection with the Tampere Jazz Happening since 2014.
