Top Guitarist Héctor Lepe’s Band on Jazz Federation Tour in March
Héctor Lepe Quartet, a band blending Latin American musical elements with the language of modern jazz, is set to embark on the Jazz Federation tour this March. The quartet, led by the young virtuoso guitarist, will perform in Turku, Kotka, Savonlinna, Joensuu, and Kuopio.
Héctor Lepe Quartet presents fresh and dynamic music, allowing each member to express their unique musical personality. Alongside guitarist and bandleader Héctor Lepe, the ensemble features Finnish jazz masters: saxophonist Max Zenger, bassist Juuso Rinta, and drummer Teemu Mustonen. This handpicked group of Lepe’s favorite musicians takes listeners on a journey through the legends and landscapes of Mexico.
The band, which thrives on the energy of live performances, is eagerly looking forward to the upcoming tour:
-“Playing live is always inspiring, as it creates a special connection with the audience that cannot be achieved in any other way. The tour offers a unique opportunity to deepen our musical expression night after night. It’s amazing how these incredible musicians bring new colors to my compositions – every concert is a surprise even for me,” Lepe explains.
Released in spring 2023 by Flame Jazz Records, Pedro’s Dream marks Héctor Lepe’s debut as a bandleader and composer. The album has received widespread critical acclaim. Its title track, Pedro’s Dream, was inspired by the novel Pedro Páramo by Mexican writer Juan Rulfo. The book’s protagonist embarks on a journey through southern Mexico and arrives in a ghost town, where characters constantly shift forms, challenging the boundaries of reality and the afterlife.
