Jazz Camp for Girls activities now also in Tampere

2.10.2025

The free Jazz Camp for Girls comes to Tampere for the first time during the Autumn holiday, Thu–Sun, October 16–19.

The camp is organized in cooperation with the Pirkanmaa Music Institute, the Finnish Jazz Federation, and Tampere Jazz Happening.

Jazz Camp for Girls offers inspiring musical moments from October 16–19, daily at 10:00–14:00. The camp takes place at the Pirkanmaa Music Institute (Eteläpuisto 4). During the camp, participants will get creative, form their own band, come up with a name for it, compose original music, and play together! Over the four days, music will be learned through improvisation and by exploring new ways of playing.

The camp is open to girls and non-binary children, primarily aimed at 9–14-year-olds, but exact age is not a strict requirement. Two ensembles will be formed – one for beginners and one for more advanced participants – each with 6–8 members. Everyone is welcome regardless of previous experience. The only requirement is an interest in making music together and meeting new friends.

The free camp will be taught by keyboardist and musician Anna Pesonen and Pauliina Kupiainen, lecturer and head of the rhythm music department at the Pirkanmaa Music Institute.

Registration by October 7 via the form: https://bit.ly/jazzcampforgirls2025

Places are limited and will be filled in the order of registration. All who fill out the form will be notified by email whether they have secured a place. Registration is binding.

Jazz Camp for Girls activities in 2025 are supported by the Nordic Culture Fund, the Finnish Music Foundation, and the Ministry of Education and Culture with a special grant for innovative children’s culture projects.
