Finnish Jazz Federation and the Mental Health Toolkit offer support for the well-being of touring bands
Finnish Jazz Federation, in collaboration with the Mental Health Toolkit project, offers free support for the well-being of bands on the 2024 self-produced tours of the Jazz Federation.
The service supporting the well-being of the Finnish Jazz Federation touring bands consists of two meetings between touring musicians and an external facilitator, the first of which takes place before the tour begins and the second after the tour. In the first meeting, work-related well-being issues are discussed together, and the band members’ expectations, wishes, and other key themes affecting the success of the tour are discussed. In the post-tour meeting, the experience of the tour is discussed, and how cooperation could be developed in the future. The initial and final meetings are facilitated by the Freelance Coordinator of the Musicians’ Union, Supervisor Jaakko Kämäräinen. The voluntary and free service is available to bands on Finnish Jazz Federation’s self-produced tours in 2024.
The Mental Health Toolkit project is part of Finland’s Sustainable Growth Programme and is implemented in collaboration with the Finnish Institute of Occupational Health, the Arts Promotion Centre Finland (Taike), the Musicians’ Union, the Theatre and Media Workers’ Union (Teme), and the research institute Cupore.
