Mikko Hassinen Future Food Factory on album release tour in April
Mikko Hassinen Future Food Factory will embark on a tour organized by the Finnish Jazz Federation following the release of their new album, Anemoia. The band will perform in Kotka, Kuopio, Oulu, Savonlinna and Jyväskylä as part of the album release tour.
The compositions on Mikko Hassinen Future Food Factory’s album, to be released on April 13, are connected to the concept of anemoia – a longing for a time one has never personally experienced. The album, titled Anemoia, is the group’s second full-length release and will be published by Flame Jazz Records.
Percussionist and composer Mikko Hassinen has returned to small ensemble music, inspired by his youthful and highly skilled band. The broad and richly layered wind orchestrations of Hassinen’s earlier work, Blood Red by the Espoo Big Band, transform on Future Food Factory’s debut album into the intimate and focused resonance of a small collective, where acoustic jazz is infused with an electronic dimension.
On the band’s debut album Future Food Factory (2024), Hassinen explored his own complex relationship with nature through music. The sound is fundamentally acoustic and breathing, yet despite this acoustic foundation, there is a subtle presence of electronics throughout the album. Many tracks have gained additional layers in post-production that depart from traditional quartet jazz: recorded material has been modified and processed, and what begins as an acoustic album gradually evolves into something else along the way.
Mikko Hassinen has had an exceptionally extensive career as a drummer, conductor, composer, arranger and producer, and his achievements have been recognized with awards such as the Teosto Prize and the Yrjö Award of the Finnish Jazz Federation.
